Move It Monday – Taking Breaks

Healthy MondayTaking a break to move has benefits for the body, mind, and spirit. Stopping work periodically to move will re-energize you (I frequently take a mid-afternoon walk to wake up), reduce stress, and allow your brain to process whatever you’ve been working on. How often do your best ideas come “when you aren’t thinking about it?”

So, this week, I want you to get up out of your chair (or up off the couch) every hour for just a few minutes and move.

If you are in an office, go see a colleague instead of using IM or picking up the phone (or make it look like you are, while you are actually just stretching your legs). If you are settled in for Must See TV, use the break between shows to change out the laundry, unload the dishwasher, or just a walk around the block. If you have a DVR, you’ve got at least 20 minutes between shows (and then you can skip the commercials).
