I ran across a great article this afternoon from BBC news about a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine that found a correlation between white blood cell counts, your level of fitness, your proportion of body fat. The article nets out that if you have low levels of fitness and high body fat, then your white blood cell count is high (meaning your body is fighting off something). And, vice versa.
A cool finding is that high levels of fitness can help negate the excess body fat. I’ve always believed that fit and a bit heavy was better than unfit and model-thin — and I’ll take any proof I can to back that up.
The other great thing is that this is now something that everyone can do something out. While you can’t control your genetic destiny, virtually everyone can control their daily activity level.
